Open Burning runs annually from January 15th to May 1st. Open burning permits can be picked up at the fire station Monday thru Sunday 8:00am-5:00pm.( Cost $10.00)
Burn days are evaluated each morning by the State Forest Fire Warden and the Local Fire Department respectively.
As spring approaches burn days become more hazardous, therefore more burn days are cancelled. If you have a significant amount of burning to accomplish this season, Please start early.
(The are no extensions to burning season!!).
Safe Burning Tips:
1. Fires must be 75ft away from any structure or vehicle
2. The person setting the fire must have sufficient help to control the fire and shall not leave the fire unattended. a water source to extinguish the fire must be readily available.
3. Burning is not permitted when winds exceed 20 mph. If burning is being conducted and wind speeds increase, the fire shall be extinguished immediately.
4. The permit holder is responsible for all requirements listed on the permit.
